New opportunity to complete 2-year A-Level Science courses during the 1-year M&D Foundation®!

About the M&D Foundation:

The M&D Foundation® is the first part of your journey to pursue a career in medicine or dentistry.

It is a 1-year programme taught at Albion College, in Central London, which gives students the science groundwork needed to continue their studies at University.

The course has been designed to teach students the fundamentals of how the human body works from the perspectives of physiology, genetics and molecular biology, cells and tissues, microbiology and chemistry. The M&D Foundation® is comparable to A-Levels with the main focus on Chemistry and Biology. There are also modules in Maths, Physics, and Biostatistics as well as English support where necessary.

The M&D Foundation® runs over the academic year from September to June. The tuition fees are £12,000. Accommodation and living expenses are not included in this amount.

The exciting central location makes it more accessible for students coming from all over the UK and the world. Students have the opportunity to take advantage of all that London has to offer; 24/7 entertainment, daily live music, cuisine from all over the world, internationally renowned theatre productions, thousands of pubs and parks. You can find a different thing to experience, or place to go every single day.

Entry requirements

  • The entry requirements are 5 GCSE grades A-C,including Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology. Students from many different countries apply as equivalent exams to the GCSE are accepted.
  • There is also an English Language requirement of
    5.5 IELTS or equivalent.

We understand that students have diverse experiences throughout their educational journey. Students may not have achieved top qualifications, but may still have the potential and determination to succeed. This is why we ultimately judge each application on an individual case-by-case basis.

This course is suitable for students who:

  • Have not completed the right Science A-Levels for application to Medical or Dental school.
  • Wish to progress onto our M&D Pre-Med® course.
  • Want to progress immediately onto one of our European medical or dental schools.


Progression Opportunities:

Many students who do not meet the requirements for the M&D Pre-Med® can study on the M&D Foundation® instead. This is because the M&D Foundation® directly leads onto the M&D Pre-Med®. Students need to achieve a score of 65% or above, and an IELTS score of at least 6.5 to gain direct entry to the M&D Pre-Med®. Students given a place on the M&D Pre-Med automatically have a host of doors opened up for them; studying undergraduate medicine/dentistry in the UK and Europe; studying graduate medicine in the UK, Eastern Europe and the Caribbean.
